Holy cow.
We couldn’t be more pleased to learn that we won the DIY division of the Playable International Playground Design Competition. Apparently the judges really liked our entry even though it is much more of a how-to for developing a youth-led culture of civic ‘doing’; public space testing, exploration and innovation; and playground building than an actual guide for making a particular final product.
A prototype(s?), built through following the how-to-guide’s instructions, will be constructed in the spring in Atlanta, Georgia and we can’t wait to share pictures and feedback.
A very special thanks to Everett Hollander as well our teen community designer apprentices- Brenda, Tamana, Shareka, Salman, Aldair, Ana, Gabby, Stephen, Roberto, Elijah and ourĀ wedesignawesomethings crew- for helping evolve pieces of this guide/method over the years.
