The Department of Making + Doing is a ‘making’ oriented civic innovation workshop/makerspace that we have opened with our partners from Breadboard,The Hacktory, and NextFab Studios. DM+D provides the space, the tools, and the knowledge to empower youth, adults and community organizations to make and do great things in Philadelphia. For Public Workshop, the space also serves as a home base for us, TinyWPA, and for The Building Hero Project, our young adult community design leadership program through which from which we are growing a talented, skilled, and highly motivated army of young adults who are able initiate civic design innovation throughout Philadelphia. We are incredibly excited to have received support for this space and collaboration from the Barra Foundation, ArtPlace, Knight Arts Challenge, and Cognizant, as part of its Making the Future STEM education program.
